The 16-year-old, identified as Arnoldo Bazan, a student and athlete at Alief Hastings High School, can be heard yelling, “I was just going to school! I’m underage!”
Witnesses say agents forced both to the ground. The teenager was later taken to the hospital for reported injuries to his back and neck.
Family and classmates describe Bazan as a talented football and soccer player and say he was simply on his way to class when the confrontation happened.
The incident is now raising serious questions about mistaken detentions and the treatment of young U.S. citizens during enforcement operations.
